The Time Is Now
Yesterday, another horrific act of pure evil took place. A man entered a church in the small community of Sutherland Springs, Texas and opened fire killing 26 and injuring more.
After my heart broke for this church and all those involved, I started to think about how this seems like it's the new normal. This very thing used to shock us and now it barely even makes main news headlines. The world my kids are growing up in is so different than the one I enjoyed. But the good news is that there's a solution. It's you and it's me.
Jesus looked at his followers and said "You are the light of the world" and "You are the salt of the earth" and those two statements, embodied by us could change everything.
Think about it for a minute. What's the point of light? What's the point of salt?
Light extinguishes darkness.
Salt makes bad things better.
One of my favorite quotes of all times would be "Don't blame the dark for being dark. Blame the light for not shining on the dark."
Christian, it's not our time to get scared. It's not our time to live in fear. It's not our time to back down. It's not our time to get quiet. It's not our time to live in fear. It's not time to point the finger. It's not our time to except this as the new normal. This is our time to rise up and be the church. To bring life, where there's death. To bring light to the darkest parts of our world. To be the salt of the earth. This world needs us more now than ever. It's our time to rise up!
